What To Expect
Heading south by train for 30 min from central Kyoto, you will arrive at Uji City, the home of matcha green tea. This class will be held at a cozy private house located in a quiet residential area full of greenery. Famous tourist attractions such as Byodoin Temple and ujigami Shrine are also nearby.
Eating delicious Japanese food is probably high up on your list of what to do in Kyoto, but how about going a step further and try your hand at making "Osechi", traditional New Year's dishes? Osechi is a colorful assortment of dishes packed in a special box called "Jubako". During this 3 hour class, you can learn how to prepare the delicious celebratory dishes that have been loved by the Japanese for over 1000 years from an experienced instructor. Most of the dishes only use easy-to-get ingredients, so find your favorite and add a little Japanese flair to your everyday repertoire back home. You can also learn how to beautifully present dishes. As this class takes place at the instructor's private home,this is also a good opportunity to see what a typical Japanese house is like, satisfying your appetite and cultural curiosity at the same time!

・All children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
・Please make sure to always communicate through wasabijp. In order to protect your payment, never transfer money or communicate outside of the wasabijp website.
・If you feel unwell or are under the influence of alcohol at the time of arrival, you can't join our experience.
・If you arrive late, you might not be able to participate in our experience, as we cannot extend the session beyond the scheduled time. Please make sure to arrive on time.
