Real Kendo (Japanese Fencing) Experience in Tokyo

Join this 2 hour class and have an authentic experience of kendo with a kendo master with over 40 years of experience! Kendo is a traditional Japanese martial art wielding a bamboo sword, the Japanese equivalent of Western fencing. Resistance to pain, adherence to the rules and respect to your opponent; kendo is where "Bushido", the code and honor of samurai, is still alive and well in modern japan. During this class, not only can you learn the basics of kendo, but you can also wear a face mask —normally it takes months of training before you get to wear one— and enjoy an intense exchange of sword blows with the master. Unleash your inner samurai and go for the kill; Enjoy the impact of each strike driving through your body!!

I am a 7th-dan kendo master (One of the highest grades attainable) with 40 years of experience. I usually give lessons to local Kendo swordsmen/women. I also operate a guest house for overseas travelers and provide them with a real kendo experience. In this class, you will join a regular lesson with local Kendo players, which makes your experience all the more authentic. Of course, I will give step-by-step instructions to beginners. Honestly I don't speak English well, but in the past I have welcomed hundreds of guests and guided them with heart and passion.

・In order for us to prepare your kendo equipment, please let us know in advance your gender, height, and waist size.
・Please note that due to the nature of the class, you are expected to experience some level of pain. Also, the equipment may have some smell especially during the summer.
・The class is mainly conducted through gestures due to the teacher's limited English.
・All children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
・Please make sure to always communicate through wasabijp. In order to protect your payment, never transfer money or communicate outside of the wasabijp website.
・If you feel unwell or are under the influence of alcohol at the time of arrival, you will not be able to join our experience.
・Please make sure to arrive on time. If you arrive late, you may not be able to join us, as the end time cannot be extended to make up for late arrivals.
