Kimono Experience in Gorgeous Ritsurin Garden in Kagawa

合計時間 : 2.5時間〜

What to do

Ritsurin Garden is the largest garden among the Japanese gardens designated as national cultural properties. It has been awarded the highest grade of three stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan and praised as “a place worth traveling to.” About half of the gardens listed as national special scenic spots, the garden equivalent of national treasures, are in Kyoto and most of them are Zakan style gardens which prioritize a view from one particular point. Ritsurin Garden, however, incorporates Chisen Kaiyu, a style of garden that became popular among feudal lords during the Edo period. Some of its features are a vast space, a large central pond, and paths leading through the garden on which people can take a leisurely stroll while enjoying the ever-changing scenery from season to season.

Join this 2-hour experience and walk around Ritsurin Garden in Kagawa, a designated national special scenic spot, in a gorgeous kimono. Ritsurin Garden is a Kaiyu style garden (a style of Japanese garden with a path around a pond) with more than 400 years of history. It has been awarded the highest rank of three stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan and widely regarded as one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan. There are plenty of attractions in the park including photo spots that bring out the beauty of your kimono, tea houses where you can enjoy delicious matcha green tea, as well as a Japanese-style boat ride around the pond.(Costs of these activities are not including in the price)
Get lost in history while taking a leisurely stroll around the park wearing a stunning kimono, a unique experience you can’t get anywhere else in the world.

Our Kimono Dresser lived in London for 9 years when she was a child. She served as a coordinator for international relations at Kagawa University while teaching English at a culture center in Takamatsu City. Drawing on her experience in helping her hairdresser husband, she started a kimono rental service at Ritsurin Garden in the hope that many people including international visitors enjoy a stroll around the garden in beautiful kimono. “Ritsurin Garden is a national treasure of a Japanese-style garden where strolling around in kimono transports you back 400 years to the Edo period. You can experience something truly unique here"
